Re: hp 3par 7200 some disk Different allocated percentage .
No, that is normal. The system does not "go out of its way" to do work. At this point, you may be able to initiate a "tunesys" command, which would start background processes to move some of the allocation from the old drives to the new ones. Once the tasks are completed, check your disk allocation. You may need to initiate "tunesys" more than once.

With what commands? What HP 3PAR OS are you running?
>The system does not "go out of its way" to do work.
There are some instances where it does go out of its way.
It now does servicemag, if a PD fails.

This is the GUI version. What is the HP 3PAR OS version?
Given by CLI's showversion.

Re: HP 3PAR 7200 some disk different allocated percentage
Ok heres how I do it. on our 7400's
1)Add the Disks, licences if required and admit the hardware
2)Cli into the 3par.
3) do a showcpg -sdg (this shows the config of your cpg;s note the speed of the cpg you added disks too which is the -rpm number)
4) do a tunesys -dr (dry run) from the cli. This will tell you the amount of data chunklets it can move. it will say "Number of tunes suggested : x".
5) Now from your gui change the speed of the cpg you added the new Disk too. it will either say default or a speed as in a number.
If it says "default" change it to the number and save changes
6) Back to cli and run the tunesys -dr again . The suggested number of tunes should be bigger. if it is run from the gui the tune cpg option and leave to run. You may have to do this a couple of times before it relevels the disks
If on inserv 3.2.1 I have found the 3par relevels a lot better than my 3.1.2 Inserv 3pars.
If the tunes suggested is lower then chnage back in the gui the speed setting and save , then run the tunesys cpg option from the gui.
Hope this helps.
