11iv3 on rp5470

I know that 11iv3 is not supported officially on rp5470, but is it possible to install and run it on this class of server? or will it not boot?

Re: 11iv3 on rp5470

I haven't tried it.

Reading between the lines of the HP-UX
server support matrix doc...

It looks like (with one exception), no
PA-RISC version prior to PA-8700 can
run 11.31 (the one exception is
A5206A, a SuperDome cell based on PA-8600).

But...the matrix also indicates that some
PA-8700 based systems can run 11.31
(i.e., rp7405, rp7410, rp8400), and
that other rp-8700 systems are listed as "no". (I've verified that an rp2470 cannot). The matrix also indicates that some rp5470's are PA-8600 based, and some are PA-8700 based.

The thread at http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1116044
would imply "no".

Have you tried it?

no, I haven't tried it yet, but I will as I got PA-8700 based rp5470. I just thought someone before me already tried it and can share his experience.

Re: 11iv3 on rp5470

BTW, when I tried to install it on my rp2470,
the install hung fairly early in the process
(can't recall exactly what step).

Re: 11iv3 on rp5470

Hi Andy,

as reported in some other threads this won't work because the chipsets of these machines is not supported - no "drivers" included.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: "drivers not included".

The annoying thing, of course, is that the
drivers WERE THERE and were removed,
most likely at marketing's instigation again.
