This can be done although I believe you need to involve an HP CE onsite

I would suggest just creating an Npar or Vpar. This would give you more flexibility down the road.

Re: 16 way superdome&32 way superdome

Are you asking if you can backrev a 32way dome to a 16way dome? If so, I believe that this is simply a firmware change, the hardware is the same. But it would have to be done by HP, you can't access the commands necessary!

Sorry, I wasn't paying attention to the way I was saying that previous response. Obviously you are wanting to put SD32 parts into a SD16 chassis. The gist of the response remains consistent, though, with the HP CE having to run commands.

Sorry about that, Chief!

Re: 16 way superdome&32 way superdome

The older superdome models are 16 or 32 way using 1 cabinet and 64 way using 2 cabinets. Newer models can have up to 64 way in one cabinet, 128 cpus in two. So in both cases 16 and 32 way using only one cabinet. If you have a 32 way system, you can use npartition to split it into 2 16 way systems. You have only to use parmgr (partition manager).

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
