2npars on 7410 & Serviceguard

Is it a good idea to have a 7410 with 2npars, and these 2 npars are the 2 nodes on a ServiceGuard environment?

What would you rather implement?

Re: 2npars on 7410 & Serviceguard

Hi

The decesion is entirely yours but in this case since both are on the same box there might be an issue if the whole box goes down
we are having 2 8420's with 2 npar's each one npar in each rp8420 is connected to another npar on a different rp8420 (2 node cluster)

Re: 2npars on 7410 & Serviceguard

While the two nPars on a single rp7410 are electrically isolated, there is likely at least one single points of failure in the box, so it isn't as highly available as two rp4440s. Also, two rp3440's can be physically separated adding some additional availability (campus cluster or even different ends of a room). The probability of a failure is low and the rp7410 could give you greater flexibility for future growth.
