32bit applications in 64 bit hpux 11.00

in regards to upgrading to the 64 bit version of hpux 11.xx, is it still possible to run 32 bit applications? Or does the depend on the version, i.e., 11.00...11.00EP...11.00ACE?

Yes you can still run 32bit appln on 64bit system. It'll just use the 32bit shared memory space. You can run "getconf KERNEL_BITS" to find out if you're on a 32 or 64 bit OS.

HP-UX 64bit is backward compatible to virtually any version of (well-written) executable, not just 32bit but 32bit apps created 10 years ago on HP-UX 8.x or 9.x. This is one of the best features of the 64bit environment.
