A question about Cell board

Hi all
I've configured an rp7410 system with two cell boards inserted into it,each of which has been installed with two Processors and a quard of memories and there is one MP card installed on it.
Now I connect AC power and log into MP system
and press "CO" it only display one Partition.
So how can I do now?
Can you give me any advice?
Thx in advance

Re: A question about Cell board

Do you think you supposed to have two partitions?

What exactly you want to do? Explain.

parstatus command give you the information if you already up that server.

Re: A question about Cell board

do you want to add al cpu's to one existing vpar? If so, it is very simple,

bring it up as Npar. means interrupt at BCH

BCH:>boot pri
Iterrupt at ISL (y/n): Y

ISL:> hpux

Once it comes up then add it to vpar.

vparmodify -p vpar1 -m cpu::min:max

where min: min. no. of cpu's
max: max no. of cpu's

You can add CPU's online means while vpar is running.

Re: A question about Cell board

MinJie,
What you want is not nPar, you want to have two physiscal partitions. I'm not sure you can setup cell boards yourself. It seems that your server is not properly setup. I have several rp7410 servers, although we only use partition 0, I could see both partitions from MP and it is configured by HP technician.

Re: A question about Cell board

you need to setup another napr. correct?

Need to know what is the status of first Npar?
would you please post parstatus output here.

parcreate command will allow you to creat 2nd partition.

Re: A question about Cell board

Firstly, take a read of the manual for Npars:
http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-1247/5991-1247.pdf

Secondly,, have you checjed whether the 2nd cell board is available to create an Npar, or is it already in use in the exisiting Npar, by loggining into the MP, using the CM command, and then using CP to see cell/partition assignments.
If the second cell board is already assigned, you will first have to remove it from Npar0 and only then can it be used to create a new Npar.

Next, verify you have ALL of the required hardware to create another Npar, including th eI/O chassis and cards in it, as well as the Core I/O and MP for the second Npar.
If not, you will need to purchase furthr hardware.
Again, I recommend you read the manual mentioned above

Re: A question about Cell board

if you want create 2 npar at rp7420, you need 2 MP cards and 2 core IO cards.

I suggest to you: Install one npar first. after that you can reconfigure from the operating system to create the second npar. please look at manual npar

thanks

Re: A question about Cell board

It is not necessary to have two MP cards. The actual intent of two MP cards is one acts as a master while the other acts as a slave. rp7420 is a Pinnacles range of machines. In this range you need to have a console card for each of the npars. Once you make sure that you have two console cards attached to each of the cells, you may boot to HPUX on one of the partitions and use parmgr to recreate the partitions.
