A500 GSP RESET

Will a reset of the GSP back to defualts, reboot the OS side of the server? I have two servers that I don't know the 'Admin' passwd, and want to reset the GSP.

Dan,

Resetting the GSP will not reboot the OS. If the firmware is too out of date, resetting the GSP will not reset the passwords. I had to slip paper between the gsp battery and terminal for a minute to clear to defaults on a few systems.

Reset GSP and keep D pressed.
If you want to soft reset
stty +resetGSP /dev/diag1
(/dev/diag1 -- gsp device file)

I used a paper clip and reset the GSP from the back, and hit 'p' to reset passwds when asked. I did check and found I was on Rev. A, which some folks implied that Rev. B might cause a panic on the OS.......
