APC connection on a rp5470

I am trying to connect an APC UPS to a rp5470. For some reason, when ever the PowerChute install gets to trying to validate comunications with the UPS it just hangs. I assume that this means that it cannot talk with the UPS. The cable I am using work just fine on my D390 test box so I know that the cable is good, but maybe it's not right for the M cable on the rp5470.

I am trying to use tty0p1 for a port, which should be the UPS port on the M cable.

Has any one run into this before?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Re: APC connection on a rp5470

What is the firmware version of your GSP?

One of the previous versions was changing the device file for the ups connector, so you will get a different device file and not tty0p1, but tty0xp3 instead.

Do you have any UNKNOWN or NO_HW in your ioscan?

Hope this helps!

Re: APC connection on a rp5470

Torsten-

The system and UPS are at a remote site and I will not be there for a couple of hours. But, this information helps me out alot. I had forgotten all about tty0p3 being introduced at revision B of the GSP. I am pretty sure that the GSP is at revision B. I am probably just using the wrong device file.

Thanks for you help! I will check it out and post a follow up later today.

Re: APC connection on a rp5470

Thanks Torsten-!!

I went through all the forums and some how over looked this thread. Here is how I resolved the problem.

1)uninstalled PowerChute software
2)installed patches PHNE_32616 and PHCO_32202
3)using SAM I created the /dev/tty0p3 device
4)reinstalled the PowerChute software
5)used the /dev/tty0p3 for when asked for which port to use.

It all worked great!

Thanks again,

Tim
