Add CPU to L2000

I have an HP9000 L2000 with a single processor(440Mhz) I purchased an additional processor. Is adding the processor a process of just putting it in or are there software concerns I should be aware of?

Re: Add CPU to L2000

Assuming you have the same processor speed, all you do is this:

1) Power down system.
2) pull the system out of the rack
3) Take the top plate off.
4) Remove the cover on the socket you want it to go in
5) Insert and lock down with 4 screws.
6) Put Humpty L2000 back together.

The system should recognize it at boot up. Thats what happened when one of our 550's failed and we had to replace it.

We had hardware do it because the systems are under contract.

Thanks for your reply. I will give that a try this evening.

Re: Add CPU to L2000

Hi Kurt,

One caveat - Even though the single CPU is in slot #0, the second CPU does *not* go in slot #1. It goes in slot #3.
See the Installation Guide for specifics:

Do not forget to have a glance at the PDC to make sure the processor is configured.
