Add Hard disk

I want to add a 18GB hard disk to my system (HP - D390, what I should do to keep stable for it?
What about the plan I Should devide the disk into LVMs?
Thanks for help.

Re: Add Hard disk

Hi there,

it depends on how you want to use the disk, if I get your question right. A good plan is, if you are not already doing so, to mirror the bootdisk (requires HP Mirrordisk-software) or a disk with critical data on it.
What OS version do you have? Do you plan to add it to a storage (or even autoraid) or in the internal drive bay?

Cheers,
Andre

If I get the question correct ,

Add the disk to am empty slot and then Keep the ENV temporature at 22 digrees !!

Re: Add Hard disk

Hi Phuong,

If you get the proper style disk and it's supported by that platform then certainly you can add it.
BUT - you cannot subdivide it. The *whole* disk must be added to an existing VG (Volume Group) or used to create a new VG. An entire PV (Physical Volume) can only be used in one & only one VG.

HTH,
Jeff
