Adding CPUs to a rp700

I have two identical rp7400's. They both have four PA-8700 750 MHz CPU modules and both have 16GB of 512 and 1024 MB memory modules. I would like to combine both servers into one, so I would have one server with 8 CPUs and 32GB of memory. I need to know are there any special procedures that I need to follow in order to add the 4 CPUs?

Re: Adding CPUs to a rp700

If the CPUs are all the same model, install them together with a second processor support module (the silver box next to the CPUs).

Hope this helps!

Re: Adding CPUs to a rp700

Thanks Torsten,

I was looking for information like are there specific torque settings that the CPUs have to be tightened to. I also read on the net where there are something called "fuzzy buttons" on the bottom of the CPUs that may need to be replaced if you move them.

" I have almost all the information I need"

Almost? Anything still missing?

When installing the CPU, just make them tight. The new feet are included in the cleaning kit, inspect the old assemblies carefully - if you can remove the CPUs easily from the board the "feet" may be still good.

Hope this helps!
