Re: Adding RAM in RP8400 Server
Questions:
1. How much memory do you already have on the server?
Normally the rp8400 supports from upto 64 GB.
2. Have ou already acquired the memory modules?
Supported product numbers are: A6097A, A6098A and A6100A.
hope this helps!
kind regards

Re: Adding RAM in RP8400 Server
also found this interesting document:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11894_div/11894_div.HTML
Basically the following memory loading rules should be obeyed:
Memory must be installed in quads (4 DIMMs of equal density)
Memory is available in four densities: 2 GB (4├Г 512MB), 4 GB (4├Г 1024MB), 8 GB (4├Г 2048MB), and 16-GB (4 x 4096MB)
Minimum memory is 2-GB per cell
Maximum memory per system is 256 GB-using sixteen 16 GB Quads.
On each cell board, Memory Quads must be installed in the following order:
1st (0A, 0B, 1A, 1B), 2nd (2A, 2B, 3A, 3B), 3rd (4A, 4B, 5A, 5B), 4th (6A, 6B, 7A, 7B)
hope this helps too!
kind regards

Re: Adding RAM in RP8400 Server
How much memory on each cell?
What are the sizes of the existing memory?
Need this info to be able to tell you where to put the new memory.
