Amber Remote Light on L Series 9000 Servers

I have a problem with multiple systems having the REMOTE light on, but need to standardize the front panel lights to ease confusion. I don't have access to any HP 700 terminals to turn this off, only C1099A terminals. Can I turn the REMOTE light off through the OS or GSP? I saw mention of doing this through GSP in an older post, but no specifics were given.

hi,

yes you can turn it off through the GSP menu's

login to gsp with control b and think from memory its the ER command.

do a help in the gsp to confirm it.

depends if you want to use the remote functionality though on the servers?

C1099A terminals will work fine too, if its configured ok for the gsp

I checked the ER settings for a system with the light on and one without the light on. Both systems had the same settings for the ER (Enable/Disable Remote) command: session. Any idea where else I could look?

Hi Greg,

There are two versions of GSP for the L-class (A & B). Which ones are you using and are they all they same type?

Have you verified that the GSP versions match the M or W cables being used? They are different and may cause functionality issues if the wrong cables is used.

What is the best way to determine GSP versions? I looked at the illustrations in the pdf and they looked the same.

You can use STM if installed:

# echo "sel dev all;info;wait;il"|/usr/sbin/cstm > /tmp/info_all.log

Then look at the file for these enteries:

I figured out the GSP versions from the help command in GSP. I made sure that each system had the correct cable. (Only a couple were switched.) What I did notice is the systems with the Remote light on are all the Rev B systems. All systems have the console connection connected through RJ45 to a Raritan Dominion SX32 Console Server. What would be different about the "B" systems that would have the Remote light on and can I do anything to turn them off?

According to this document, the REMOTE LED indicates that Remote Access is *enabled*.

A15 - No, The Remote Led operates exactly the same on A6696A
and A6696B, if remote access is enabled on either the
remote serial connection or the GSP lan connection,
the remote led will be lit
