Attaching dvd drive to k460

I am inheriting a k460 from a now bankrupt company. I ordered the hp 11.11i V2 dvds to do a clean install and got to thinking, the machine probably has a cd drive can I either install through the network using another dvd drive or connect a dvd drive to the server? If I can connect a dvd drive to the server is there any particular make or model I should use?

Re: Attaching dvd drive to k460

hi michael,

you can attach a dvd externally to the se scsi port on the core io board for the installation of HPUX. just boot from this path

It may have a dvd already as some did, hp part number A5220A, internally.

The bad news

11iv2 isnt supported on the K series and doubtit will work

you need 11iv1

Re: Attaching dvd drive to k460

I thought it was supported, it is a 64 bit processor (barely). Even with current firmware upgrades it will not support it?

Re: Attaching dvd drive to k460

Michael,

no way, all NIO, HSC/GSC bus, FWD SCSI stuff is no longer supported on 11i V2 (11.23).

you need to stay at 11.11 (11i V1). so you have to get those media and make sure you get CDs not DVDs.

Re: Attaching dvd drive to k460

hi,

yes it is 64bit capable but not supported as the other io architecture is too old.

this is the supported servers from the latest release book
