Attention LED Status over shell command

Hi folk,
I'm trying to solve the problem to get the status of the attention LED from some HP Server over a shell command.
Are there any posibilities?

Re: Attention LED Status over shell command

You can get the status from the MP, but the command depends on the system model.

Hope this helps!

Re: Attention LED Status over shell command

No. I don't want to set the command on the MP. I need a shell command from a linux- or a hpux box, like telnet or another connection, to read the status of the attention led.
It must look like:
telnet -u Admin -p Admin -c vfp

But this doesn't work. :-(

Re: Attention LED Status over shell command

The LEDs are controlled by the MP. No way to run MP commands from the OS.

Hope this helps!

Re: Attention LED Status over shell command

You can not get the status of the system LED's from OS.If you want to have the status of LED's then login to MP and type a command vfp.The output will show the live status of front panel LED's.

Re: Attention LED Status over shell command

Outch... That's very exhausting to log on 70 MP's to check the attention light.

Is there maybe a possibilty to get the status over snmp or a website?

Re: Attention LED Status over shell command

The attention LED status is probably not what you really want to know.

Several options to watch the status of your servers:

- install System management homepage
- connect to the MP web-interface
- watch root's mailbox for diagnostic messages (forward them)
- integrate to system insight manager
- install ISEE
- maybe some more

Hope this helps!

Re: Attention LED Status over shell command

The easiest is to use the expect command and logon to each of them using an expect script. However, any condition that turns on the attention LED will generate plenty of EMS messages both in syslog as well as through email that you have configured. You do have a central syslog server, correct? And of course, a general sysadmin address to which all alerts are sent. And all 70 of your servers have the latest diags/EMS on them, correct? Then you won't need the attention LED because you'll already have details information about the hardware fault in logs and email.

Re: Attention LED Status over shell command

Hi,

Login to MP Console

check vfp if any error then the system red led will glow.

Check in SL any errro's are their like temprature, any hardware failure.

Thanks,
