Avaible memory slots in a K-Class

Another memory upgrade question. I read through several threads and was unable to determine the answer. I need to add memory to a K-460 and need to know if I have available slots. I think I know how many I have in use, but I do not know how many are empty if any. Without opening up the box can anyone assist me? HP-UX 10.2 (I know, but they don't want to upgrade Informix and the home grown app) cts output:

Re: Avaible memory slots in a K-Class

Allen,

A single memory carrier will hold 8 pairs of memory dimms. You are currently utilizing 4 pairs. Additionally you can add a 2nd carrier for an additional 8 sets.

Re: Avaible memory slots in a K-Class

Hi Allen

You have 4 free banks with existing memory carrier and thus can utilise them. Please ensure you use HP Branded memories in order to get reliable operation

Re: Avaible memory slots in a K-Class

Here is what fully loaded K460 memory carriers look like:

Memory Board Inventory

Total Phys Configured Disabled
Board Size (MB) Total (MB) Total (MB)
------------ ---------- ---------- ----------
EXT0 0a/0b 256 256 0
EXT0 1a/1b 256 256 0
EXT0 2a/2b 256 256 0
EXT0 3a/3b 256 256 0
EXT0 4a/4b 256 256 0
EXT0 5a/5b 256 256 0
EXT0 6a/6b 256 256 0
EXT0 7a/7b 256 256 0
EXT1 0a/0b 256 256 0
EXT1 1a/1b 256 256 0
EXT1 2a/2b 256 256 0
EXT1 3a/3b 256 256 0
EXT1 4a/4b 256 256 0
EXT1 5a/5b 256 256 0
EXT1 6a/6b 256 256 0
EXT1 7a/7b 256 256 0
---------- ---------- ----------

In this case, EXT0 is the bottom carrier and the optional EXT1 is the top carrier. In this example, each SIMM is 256megs (must be installed in pairs) so each carrier has 8 pairs at 2Gb per carrier, or 4Gb total. You can also install 512meg SIMMs (in pairs) for 8Gb of RAM, only useful at HP-UX 11.0 and higher running a 64bit kernel.
