Re: BIB

BIB means Boot is Blocked.

This status is used for firmware updates for example. But also if a problem occurs (e.g. a failed cell) the system will go to that status.

Hope this helps!

Re: BIB

I suggest you seriously consider actually reading some manuals at some stage.

Re: BIB

this is well known issue in old version of firmware. you two choices:

1. Upgrade the firmware to latest level. you need to consult your HP local support to do it.

2. power off the Cell/Partition, then unplug the power cables from the back side of the RAC. leave it for 1-2 minutes, then plug the cables again. it will boot up.

sily solution but it works.

Re: BIB

This is a very old Thread, but I feel i must respond to YJM's post.

"this is well known issue in old version of firmware"
>>What well known issue, can you explain?

BIB is available at both Old and New versions of Firmware.

"power off the Cell/Partition, then unplug the power cables from the back side of the RAC. leave it for 1-2 minutes, then plug the cables again. it will boot up."
>>Why ??

As previously stated in the thread, BIB is used for many reason on CELL based systems, some of which are:
Firmware Upgrades.
Partition Management (eg, adding cells)
As a result of a hardware failure.

The machine can be placed at BIB from:
HPUX commands when changing partition configs
From the MP:
CM>RR

If a machine DOESN'T have a hardware failure and it is at BIB, you can release it from BIB by:
CM>BO
which takes you to BCH
(no need to power it off)
