Re: Boot Device not ready

Shukor,

look like primary boot disk has gone bad.
do you have Alt disk to boot.if yes please try to boot from Alternative disk.

Thanks,

Re: Boot Device not ready

hi,

from first glance it looks like boot disk has failed, and is likely.

however, from you commands that you have run, you dont seem to have actually searched for bootable devices? is the pri path correct to the boot device on the system?

from pdc do a search for devices and then do a search for bootable devices

MA>sea

MA>sea isl

see if you can find the disk and verify it is actually the pri path that is set.

if the path is right, then the disk will need replacing and recovering from an ignite image or fresh install and backup

if its wrwong then boot the disk that you find is bootable? is it mirrored?

Re: Boot Device not ready

Hi Andrew,

I did sea and tried to boot to pri and alt but failed (bo P0, P1). Need your help to verify what the problem or just let me change the disk. Please see my output for more detail.

Re: Boot Device not ready

Shukor,

You may try to boot in lvm maintanance mode using hpux -lq -lm from Isl.
if system is not booting in -lm also .i suggest to do ignite on ALT disk.

Thanks

Re: Boot Device not ready

hi,

right it seems that you have one disk dead and one good disk with a problem.

I would remove the disk from the slot, and then try and boot the other disk. It could be erroring as it thinks the disk is still present.

you must have mirrodisk installed, as your ISL points to booting -lq. It just depends if it was setup correctly.

if this boots up ok, then you can simply replace the disk and then repair the mirror with lvm commands.

if it doesnt boot properly, you may need to boot the good disk into lvm maintenace mode with -lm from ISL and reduce the mirror first before rebooting

ISL>hpux -lm

Re: Boot Device not ready

Dear all,

The problem has been solved yesterday. After failed to reactivate vg00 in single user mode, I tried and successfully recovered OS and Data using Ignite tape. Thanks everyone!
