Re: CPU Upgrade HP9000 N 4000
you havent listed any quantities, so assuming only one of each, yes there are lots of expantion possibilties.
The A3639B can support upto 8 processors and 16 dimm kits(32 slots in total)
If you were to use the 2gb dimm kit A5864A then you could go upto 32gb total memory.
you may also need more processor support modules and memory carrier boards aswell, depends upon how much you want to upgrade it.
2x cpu's to 1x installed cpu support module
1x memory carrier has 8 slots(4 pairs/modules/kits) and can take install 4x memory carrier boards.
A5866A is the fastest CPU that can be installed in that model.

Re: CPU Upgrade HP9000 N 4000
there are total of 12 server 6 at each DC location each Server has 8 Processor and 20Gb memory
Due to more transaction load i.e about 6.5 million per day my customer is facing performance issue during peak hours
I am exploring weather the current system is capable to upgrade
will there be any other alternative server which has better scalibility and reliablity

Re: CPU Upgrade HP9000 N 4000
for performance issue you go for memory upgrade
you can upgrade the memory upto 32 gb and
add 64 gb of swap space with lv swap or whole
disk swap.
Thanks,
Avinash

Re: CPU Upgrade HP9000 N 4000
the current config has Three Virtual memory partitions of 3GB, 4GB and 20GB size working in a round robin fashion.
as we are assuming about 25% yearly growth in volume would 32GB memory expansion suffice that much transaction load.

Re: CPU Upgrade HP9000 N 4000
Check if your application is using more swap
then the 32 gb of physical memory is ok.
Only you have to increase the swap. with adding more disk or from san.
Thanks,
Avinash

Re: CPU Upgrade HP9000 N 4000
Disk utilization that a report shows disk I/O utilization during transaction peak
would this give any help in doing the analysis.
The current system is using SAN disk for logs..
are there many disk utilisation metrics to be consider if there are multiple disk spread across multiple server
if anyone can tell what type of reports/data I should ask customer which can further help in analysing the Performance issue with the current Servers
