CPUs on Server

RP3440.
top: shows 1 CPU.
stm:
Processor Processor State
--------------- -----------------
0 Unknown
1 Stopped:Deconfigured

How many processors are really installed?
If one, what means Unk/Stop:Deco?
If two, how to make them run ?

Re: CPUs on Server

Hi Juan,

Post the output of ioscan -fnkC processor, your o/p should be similar to

# ioscan -fnkC processor
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
===================================================================
processor 0 120 processor CLAIMED PROCESSOR Processor
processor 1 121 processor CLAIMED PROCESSOR Processor

The o/p above shows 2 processors.

Re: CPUs on Server

Hello, the o/p is:
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
===================================================================
processor 0 128 processor CLAIMED PROCESSOR Processor

It shows no Processor 1.

Re: CPUs on Server

How many processors are installed physically in the system?

Are you getting any error message in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log?

Re: CPUs on Server

Then you probably have only one processor installed.

You may open the server to do the same, refer the documentation which came with the server to do that.

Re: CPUs on Server

Most likely you have a failed CPU assembly. Call HP Support and tell them to come out and fix it. The only thing you could possibly try is reseating the CPUs but I don't recommend that because a special hex wrench w/center punched is needed.

Re: CPUs on Server

Dear Juan,

The CPU's installed in the rp3440 are dual core PA8800 CPUs. If you open the server u will see only one physical CPU. But the system can show two hardware CPUs based on two nos. of CPU cores. If yur system was ordered with a single CPU, then one of the cores will be disabled/deconfigured. but the server will be containing two CPU cored at least. I assume this is the reason yur system is showing two CPUs but one as deconfigured.

Thanks.
