Can't find CD/DVD device in boot mode

Hi.
Hi.
I have one N4000 400Mhz with HP-UX 11.00 and I want to install HP-UX . I stop the server during the boot process. I ran the search command to find all my boot device. I have two disk and the tape but I can't see the DVD. If I start my server normally I see it (ioscan show me the DVD). I suppose that the problem will be in the firmware or in the cable.
The DVD is C4314A model.

Hi,

I think this is firmware problem, but
you can easy write hardware path without searching devices.

Re: Can't find CD/DVD device in boot mode

As gora suggested you can boot using the Hardware path to the DVD and try. What's the firmware version which u have.I have the same setup here but it works fine by sea command.

Re: Can't find CD/DVD device in boot mode

The firmware is likely available from the ITRC. (Patch section.) Firmware in general these days are available (for 11.0 and 11.11 at least) as patches on the HPUX side. (But you can get tape or cdrom format also, generally.) Be sure to read the documentation for your update before doing it. If you do not completely understand the documentation and what you are doing, don't do the update yourself.

One note: If you install the firmware update from an HPUX patch, then reinstall the OS or upgrade the OS, you likely will not be able to back out of the firmware update...

Hope it helps

Re: Can't find CD/DVD device in boot mode

DVD 303 and DVD 304 units have a firmware problem that prevents them from being seen as a boot device. There is a patch available for download on the ITRC. Search the firmware patch database under disk and type DVD in the search string.

Hope this helps,

Re: Can't find CD/DVD device in boot mode

The problem was the SCSI connector, one pin was broken.
