Can't increase shmax kernel parametre in N 4000

Hi all,

I am not able to increase "shmax" kernel parameter from 1073741824( default value)

Whne i am changing the value from 1072741824 to 17,179,869,184, error says that maximum allowed value is 1072741824.
I need to increase the value for installing SAP R/3 64 bit in N 4000 server with HPUX 11.11.

IS there any relation of 32 bit /64 bit hardware with this parameter ?
