Choice into MP PE between 4 options
One server HP RP7410 is going wrong. I cannot access to login.
I connect on MP. I cannot access login to the server.
I do BO 0 but nothing is doing
I think now to use PE 4 choices is offered :
T cabinet
C cell
D DVD/TAPE
P I/O chassis
Which is the better choice to alterate files and configurations minimum ?
Is it better to switch off electrical power in front panel ?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Choice into MP PE between 4 options
In that case, there might be a GSP/MP reset button somewhere on the server case. It might be near the TOC button - be careful not to mix them up. On rp54xxx series, the GSP reset button is in an especially difficult location: you need to pull the server from rack and find the button inside the PCI card cage door. (There might be a hole in the PCI card cage door which allows pushing the button without opening the door)
In any case, check if there is newer MP firmware available: MP firmware update might prevent the problem from reoccurring.
I hope this information helps.
Regards,
Marco

Re: Choice into MP PE between 4 options
PE is Power Enable. This will allow you to turn on/off the power to the Cabinet/Cell/IO Chassis.
Try CO (for console). This will allow you access to the console , ofcouse only if the OS is still alive and well.
Sundar.

Re: Choice into MP PE between 4 options
I have not be undrestanded.
I don't want to access the system files from there.
I can't access server with telnet.
I can't access CONSOLE with MP.
I can't boot partition 0 with MP.
The server is going wrong not MP.
The MP is going well, no need to reset.
It is the server that I want to reset.
I want to know the better manner to reset electrical server.
first choice front pannel pickup off On
Second choice with MP.
There is PE which propose 4 choices
T cabinet
C cell
D DVD/TAPE
P I/O chassis
Other question
The server answer ping request
Is there a command to reset the server with ping ?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Choice into MP PE between 4 options
CTRL B
CM
RS > This will stop the OS dead in its tracks (non Graceful) and start the POST tests and eventually boot (if you have autoboot set).
OR
To "electrically" reset the server:
CTRL B
CM
PS (select T Cabinet> OFF)
At this point you may wish to remove the power cables at the rear for a minute and then re-connect - this will also remove the housekeeping voltages.
Once the GSP has re-booted:
CM
PS (select T Cabinet> ON)
The machine will then go through POST check and boot.
Hope this helps
