Clock dirft in RP7410
RP7410 with single cell in slot1 with two cpu 750 mhz, 11i OS.
Problem:
System time lagging every day by 1hour.
Checked:
1.clock speed and dip switch setting for Sys bd & Cell found to be fine.
2.No error mesg about battery low etc in MP>SL
Suspecting the Sys bd, since master clock supplied from there. But there are documents states PDHC raiser card has RTC which controls OS timings.
Now Can any one assist, who could be culprit which can be directly replaced or do we required to replace one by one to eliminate the problem.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

Re: Clock dirft in RP7410
Check if you have the latest firmware.
http://www4.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/patchDetail.do?BC=patch.breadcrumb.main|patch.breadcrumb.patchDetail{PF_CKEYMAT0500,firmware:cpu}|&patchid=PF_CKEYMAT0603&context=firmware:cpu
Otherwise I would open a Hardware call.
Best regards,
Robert-Jan

Re: Clock dirft in RP7410
Verify that you timezone information is correct.
Look at you xntpd's config, and look in your syslog if ntpdate is being run forcefully maybe sometime.

Re: Clock dirft in RP7410
Check wheather the problem is there in both OS as well as MP Time. If the problem is only in OS time then you will require to change the System Board. We faced OS time drift problem in one of our RP7410 and were required to replace System Board.

Re: Clock dirft in RP7410
Thanks for your input, I have confirmed that Timezone set correct & There was no NTP configured since we have another RP7410 in which we have seeing time didnot drift.
Hi Devendra,
Thanks for your valuable input,.Even I suspect the system board, But RTC in PDHC raiser card but only most clock comes from SysBD.
If you already find similar problem and solution was system BD, I shall order for the same.
Once again thanks sharing your experience.

Re: Clock dirft in RP7410
Longshot: verify that the chips really are running at 750 mHz, there are some settings for speed that could be reset if battery is lost on the cell. Could use
'echo itick_per_usec/D | adb -k /stand/vmunix /dev/kmem'
to verify speed.
If that looks OK, then the system board.

Re: Clock dirft in RP7410
I'm not 100% about this if it works for an rp7410 but it did work for a K-Class.
Log a call with HP and get HP to adjust the clock. Do tell them about this problem though. They can adjust the time for each second.
