Compatible Cards?

Hi,

I have an RP4440 server.
In this server, I have a SCSI Ultra 320 controller (A6961-60011).

I'm buying a tape backup for this server: Ultrium 448 (DW028B).
But, the SCSI card number that was listed in the quote is an ULTRA 320 (A7173A)

Is the A7173A and my A6961-60011 compatible or do I need to purchase another card?

Product number A7173A has the part number A6961-60011, there should be no problem with you configuration.

Are you sure about this? I was hoping to find this answer (that it is compatible) but I need to be sure.

Is there documentation somewhere?

Is the A6961 an older version of A7173A?

Go to partsurfer.hp.com.

Run a search with model number A7173A.
Click the product name, then request the parts listing "for all parts". You'll get one part, namely A6961-60011.

So they are not only compatible, they are effectively the same thing. Maybe A7173A means "the card plus all the accessories (instruction leaflet, maybe SCSI terminators) in the sales package" while A6961-60011 means "just the card".

A7173A is the product number for PCA U320 Dual Channel SCSI PCI/PCI-X HBA

A6961-60011 is the part number for A7173A product.

So I don't thing you need to buy another card.
