Re: Configure Web Console on HP-UX
Note that many security departments consider this to not be secure, and prefer console based network login via GSP/MP card.

Re: Configure Web Console on HP-UX
Usually, the "web consoles" just allow you to access the equivalent of that dumb terminal over the network, using a browser applet.
The latest Itanium server models (basically anything that contains an iLO2 remote console functionality) might allow remote access to a GUI-based console, since these servers can also run Windows. However, I don't know whether HP-UX supports the GUI mode on this hardware or not.
Note that X Window System is heavily dependent on networking, and starting it up is usually the _last_ step of HP-UX booting. So you cannot expect to use a GUI to troubleshoot system start-up problems or other severe problems. Some problems with network parameters can also cripple the CDE GUI environment, but with a proper text-based remote console they are trivial to fix.
My opinion:
One of the best things about a remote console is that it allows you to pre-diagnose hardware level problems before going physically on-site, so you can have an idea of what kind of spare parts might be needed. ("Is the problem fixable by a pair of new disks & an Ignite tape, a new PCI card or the like, or does it look so bad I need a HP engineer to go on the site with me for a system board swap?")
Ability to use a GUI is not essential: if an X Window System-based GUI can still be used, the problem is usually not serious enough to require console access.

Re: Configure Web Console on HP-UX
What would be the best and recommended solution to have a centralized setup. We have around 8 servers and two dumb terminal. So each time we have to re-connect the dumb terminal to view the console.

Re: Configure Web Console on HP-UX
This is the setup what we have build. But the console through the browser is slow. So we thaught may be some other option is avaiable which is more reliable and secure
Please advice,
