Connect N-Class to a Stand-Alone SDLT320 Drive - What SCSI HBA to Use?

Central to our DR will be the ability to restore a Tape Ignite Backup (which also contains the make_net_recovery archives) of an Ignite Server. What HBA do I need to spec to be hooked up to an N-Class so I can access my SDLT Drive and my SDLT Ignite Tape?

Also, has anyone tried to restore from an Ignite Recovery using SDLT 320 medium? Currently.. we Ignite to a SDLT tape that is on a SAN bridged Tape Library. Is it possible to access a SAN bridged SDLT Drive at Ignition time?

Hi Nelson,

you can use the following SCSI HBAs:

A5150A Dual Port Ultra 2 SCSI, PCI bus
A5838A PCI 2 Port 100Base-T 2 Port Ultra2

A6829A PCI Dual Channel Ult 160 SCSI Adapt
A7173A PCI-X Dual-Channel Ultra320 SCSI Adapter

Nelson,

boot through an FC-SCSI bridge/router is not possible AFAIK. You might check Ignite 6 and latest HWE Bundles if you find some hints regarding boot from SDLT and/or through an FC bridge.
