i have bought to my D390 the ds2405 disk box and A6684A FC Tachyon Adapter. After hardware was succesfuly installed, Cold installation of HP-UX 11.00 was performed, including QPK11.00, HWE11.00 September 2003 and A6684A driver.
Installation finished succesfuly, ioscan shows Adapter CLAIMED, but NO link on both sides. After manually switching ds2405 side to 1GB LINK is goink up on ds2405 side but not on A6684A side. fcmsutil shows:
Previous Topology = UNINITIALIZED
Driver state = AWAITING_LINK_UP
Driver Version = @(#)libtd.a Fibre Channel Tachyon TL/TS/XL2 Driver B.11.00.10(AR1201)
/ux/core/kern/wsio/td_glue.c: Oct 11 2001, 11:56:06
Any suggestions or assistance that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Connecting D390 via A6684A to ds2405
If FC switch is not there the topology
should be direct attach. This is recognized
automatically.Check the fiber cable polarity!

Re: Connecting D390 via A6684A to ds2405
for 41.35 pls read:
server firmware revision 41.35:
- Support has been added for the HSC A6684A Fibre Channel
card. There are significant restrictions imposed on the
location of the A6684A card when Graphics cards are in the
server. The maximum number of A6684A Fibre Channel cards
per Dx90/Rx90 servers is 2. The first Fibre Channel card
must be installed in the Turbo Slot located at hardware
path 10/12. The second Fibre Channel card can be in any
other GSC slot. When the A6684A Fibre Channel card is
installed in the server any graphics cards installed
cannot be in the Turbo Slot located at hardware path
10/12.
- Boot and Dump are supported for the A6684A Fibre Channel
Card. This firmware will not search Fibre Channel Fabric
for bootable images and that support is not planned. When
booting over Fibre Channel you must know the full hardware
path to the boot device.
Regards,
Bernhard

Re: Connecting D390 via A6684A to ds2405
sorry for delay...
I see I must add some more info.
To all: D390 is connected directly to ds2405 disk system - no FC Switch nor Bridge.
To Bernhard: PDC revision is 42.10
There were no Graphics Card installed. Because all GSC slots were occupied (3xSCSI;1x100BT Lan), i removed Remote Management/Access Port Card from path 8/0 and installed A6684A there. In booklet i got with card i red that any HSC slot is suitable for FC Card...
So, today i moved A6684A to the Turbo slot (Path 10/12) but with negative result. Still no LINK on A6684A side. I checked/replaced cable once again - not solved.
But!!! When i connected to A6684A FC LoopBack Connector, LINK went up, i can test card with stm and fcmsutil says :
Topology = DIRECT
Driver state = ONLINE
It seems to me that ds2405 does not provide
signal back to A6684A, because on its side LINK goes on immediately after PDC activation, before booting system disk.
Any other suggestions ?

Re: Connecting D390 via A6684A to ds2405
Did you try all DS2405 ports? How many controllers DS2405 has? Do they have same settings of rotary switch? Are there any amber lights?
Finally, pull out one of DS2405 controllers and try with only one. Will enclosure initialize and give a link to the host?

Re: Connecting D390 via A6684A to ds2405
DS2405 has two controllers i checked all
4 ports. There is no amber light, rotary switches are on factory setting. This box is now in production with rp5470 with A6795A FC Adapter connected to one controller. I just wanted to connect my old D390 as well...
All four ports of DS2405 works fine with rp5470.

Re: Connecting D390 via A6684A to ds2405
simply power it down, just theoreticaly :
Stefan,do you mean when one controller is set
to 2Gig and second one to 1Gig it will not work ? So should i purchase FC switch to get it running ? Strange ...
Eugeny, it is true that i didn't restart ds2405 after switching controller to 1Gig.
I supposed controller is hot swapable and will initialize after putting it back to chasis. Will try anyway.

Pavol.
