Connecting UPS to a RP4440 server

Dear All,

Maybe simple questions but still a wonder to me . . .

1)To wich port should i connect an serial UPS on a RP4440 server ?

2) Wich ups monitor software is better, standard ups_mond or UPS Manager II version B.03.10 ?
We use a Powertrust MR II UPS with 2 servers connected, one RP4440 and one RP5470.

Thanks in advance,

Re: Connecting UPS to a RP4440 server

Do you have a SNMP/LAN card in your UPS?

The ups_mond software works fine, but only for 1 system connected directly via a serial line.

For multiple system you need a network based solution, e.g. the LAN card or the proxy function of the direct connected server. The problem is, UPS Manager II is obsolete and you won't get it for versions later than HP-UX 11.00.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

rs232 25 pin connection from a DTC into every server. DTC is like a mux. it allows many servers to console into the ups. From the DTC hook into the i/o core serial port. you may need a male to female adaptor as I believe the i/o core serial port is also male.

get a dtc or mux.
