I have tried connecting a serial null modem cable to the top console connector on the back of the disk array so that I can see output on my terminal emulator screen, just as I get when I have the console connector plugged into the console port on the back of the K370 and see the system output. As I understand it, I should see the gridmgr display on my terminal emulator screen when it is connected to the disk array console port. However, that does not display. What I get is an endless series of short 'garbage' looking text that flows from line to line. No interface software screen displays when I power on the disk array with the console connected to the top port.
Am I connected to the correct console port on the Disk Array (the top one) or should I be using the bottom one? If it does not matter which port I use, what needs to be done so the gridmgr screen will display on the console?
Thanks!
Glenn

Do you have a picture of what it looks like? It could be that your speed or parity settings are mismatched.

Re: Connecting a Console to a Nike Model 20 Disk Array
The terminal is set at 9600, N, 8, 1, no flow control, which is what works with the main system console port. Are the settings for the disk array different?

The attached document in this post may be helpful, mentions console settings:

Re: Connecting a Console to a Nike Model 20 Disk Array
Dennis...
Thanks for the links! I already have the printed copy of the user guide; however, the other two Word documents appear to be useful. I will try making the connections as per those documents and update this thread when I discover what does or does not work.
Thanks again!

Re: Connecting a Console to a Nike Model 20 Disk Array
It is important to set emulation mode to EM100 or VT100 - do not use HP mode!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Connecting a Console to a Nike Model 20 Disk Array
I switched to ANSI and got legible output on the emulator screen.
Thanks so much for the solution!
