Console (green screen) has strange characters after power outage.

Hello all I am having what is probably a simple problem.
HP 9000 K370
HPUX 11.11
We had a power outage and the terminal connected to the console port is showing strange characters when hitting any key. Looks like some strange language.
I can get into the machine remotely but I need to get this fixed. I am trying not to reboot.
Can this be a corrupted device file or something?
Thanks
James

Many things are possible. For example, the
terminal may have come up set to a speed
different from the one it was set to before.
I'd check the serial port and terminal speed
(and parity) settings before I started
looking for corrupted files.

Hi James:

You can't harm anything by recycling power on the console, itself.

You can also try:

# stty sane

Another option.

Hold down the "D" key during power cycle of the monitor. If an HP Terminal it will reset it to the defaults.

Tim that was it...
I held down "d" and the terminal screen came right up. I really appreciate it.
I appreciate all of your replies and have assigned the points.

Thanks again
