As anyone come across this code being displayed before the system boots up.

CEF2 is a boot code that indicates that we are searching for the boot device.
If your system is hanging there then try to boot vmunix.prev.
If booting that kernel fails then its possible that you have a problem with an I/O card.

This is a normal chassis code generated by the HPUX kernel and means "Kernel is about to configure the I/O system". This is no error, but if the system is hanging for a unusual long time during bootup and this chassis code is displayed, it may be a hint on an I/O problem.
