D280 and HP Surestore DAT 40 x 6 autoloader

Does anyone know if it is possible to put the autoloader onto an D280?
If so are there any extras i would need to purchase to get it running.
The HP D280 is running HP-UX 10.20, if this is of any help.

Cheers.

Chris,

Do you have a scsi card available? Also, with auto changers, you need the appropriate backup software that will actually change the tapes.

Harry,

Yes, the D280 has a built in SCSI card, not too bothered about the tape changing side of it yet, but i can't get the machine to recognise the tape drive.

The instructions i have for the tape drive only covers 700 series HP machines!

Another pointer, i am starting to think it could be more hardware related issue, as it has knocked out all other devices on the same SCSI channel.

Have just also tried configuring for a Sun box and it has done the same!

Any ideas anyone.

On some D class there is a problem getting newer tape drives to work on the older HPB
type controlers. I would run it by support

One day i'll wake up.

I just had the bright idea of trying a different SCSI terminator on the device.

Hey presto, it works!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your advice everyone, will give you a few points for your advice.

Cheers again,

Chris
