D370 console DB9 to DB9 pinout
I need the pinouts for a D370 workstation. I am trying to connect the console port (DB9) to my laptop serial port (also DB9). Does anyone have this info. I have tried a straight-thru cable and a null-modem cable configured as follows:
DCE DTE
Pin 1 ------ Pin 1 Unused
Pin 2 ------ Pin 3 RD/TD
Pin 3 ------ Pin 2 TD/RD
Pin 4 ------ Pin 6 DTR/DSR
Pin 5 ------ Pin 5 GRND
Pin 6 ------ Pin 4 DSR/DTR
Pin 7 ------ Pin 8 CTS/RTS
Pin 8 ------ Pin 7 RTS/CTS
Pin 9 ------ Pin 9 Unused
Thanks for any help in advance.

Re: D370 console DB9 to DB9 pinout
Hi,
Try here
http://www.loop-back.com/null-mod.html
Generally what I do is connect 5 to 5 (because in 9 pin 5 is always ground), then connect 2 & 3 straight. If straight doesn't work connect cross. Select Xon/Xoff instead hardware hand shake.
Any way the null-modem cable you mentioned is correctly wired!!

Re: D370 console DB9 to DB9 pinout
Hi Jerry
Use a simple null modem cable DB9 to DB9 without hanshaking. Following link gives info on cable layouts

Re: D370 console DB9 to DB9 pinout
I have used a null modem cable multiple times to connect to a variety of HP servers. If the null modem does not work, then you will need to look into the connection settings.
