DS2405 with A6685A fibre adapter on HP-UX 11.11

Hi,
I have installed with no problems in a K360 two fibre adapters A6685A on the HSC expansion slot. Drivers are correctly installed in HP-UX v11.11 and there is no claimed device. But when I execute this command: 'fcmsutil /dev/td0' it appears that driver state is AWAITING_LINK_UP.
Anybody knows what's happening?

Hi,
I think you should check the fiber links.
keep the fiber cable connected to the HBA and try to see the blinking LED from the other side of the fiber cable this is just a physical check.
You can also try changing the fiber cable and test.

Sorry, but i have test it with another cable and it continues with the same problem.Any other idea?

Hi,

How are you connecting to the array?
Are you using switched fibre?
Are you using an arbitrated loop (direct connect) to the array?
Sounds like some zoning is in order. The cards are looking for *something* to which to login. But that something needs to know just what kind of fibre connection to make & who's going to login & how. You need to get the WWNs from the card & tell either the switch and/or array about them.

I don't know, but I saw something in the MSA1000 manual that appears to be similar to your problem. There is some information on "finding" missing LUNs on page 45 of:

K360 is directly connected to the fibre connectors of the DiskSystem 2405, no switch.
So how to send WWNs to the array?
See attached 'tdutil /dev/td0' output.

Did you check to see if PDC firmware on the K360 needed to be updated? What about patch dependencies?

Yes, I have patched it with latest firmware version 41.33 and I have installed all necessary patches according to HP.
Do you think that there is any incompatibility between fibre HBA and DS 2405 adapter?

The ds2405 arrays are shipped in 2Gb/s mode. They are not autosensing, so there is a switch on each of the LCC's (controllers) which you can set to 1Gb/s. This is not one of the external switches, so you will have to remove the cards to find it. The KClass controllers (which are 1G only) should then get a link.

Finally the problem was the incompatibility between HBA of the K360 and the DS 2405 fibre adapter speed.
I have changed internal switch of DS 2405 to 1 Gb and it works.
