DVD-ROM 305 supports which types of DVD

Just wondering wat a "HP DVD-ROM 305" supports, as we are about to generate burnt DVD's.

Does it support DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW etc.???

It will read any DVD.

It will not write them at all.

We're not gonna burn DVD's with this drive, but we have a huge bulk of machines with this drive at customer sites.

But I couldn't find any reference on the HP site as to which types of DVD's are supported with this drive.

I've had issues with the HP DVD-ROM reading CD-RW and CD-R discs. It refuses to read CD-RW, and sometimes a CD-R will not mount, and simply reply with "device is busy."

HP does now offer r/w DVD drives on servers and workstations. The device is overpriced but if you want hardware service contracts you have to buy it.

The bottom line is the technical question is answered. That drive will read any DVD. As to what it will do after that, this depends on software you have installed on the HP-UX OS.

We have build in HP DVD Writer Model dvd530i
in a c8000 workstation. Works great. The price is very low. Less than 100$. So no need for support. If it is defect it will be simply replaced.
