Disable Modem in K580

My customer wants to disable the interan remote access modem in his K580's. Is there a simple solution to this??

I'm looking at Sam on a K570 now and "Terminal and Modem" only shows a console and UPS.

The modem must have its own software - if you know what it is and where it is located, there are several options

1. remove the directory/files (after making archival backups

2. change the owner of the directory/files to a non-root id and change permissions to 000, so the files cannot be read or executed.

3. rename the executable and or config file

also, you can check /etc/inittab to see if the modem is activated there - if so, remark out the line and re-query the inittab

hi,

With the K class you configure the modem through the service menu

Turn the key on the front of the server to the service position, far right.

Then on the local console hit control b and this wil take you into the service menu for configuring the modem, disable it here.
