E class server info
I need lots of info on the E class model 25 server. It looks like a decent
little machine (read: new toy for Chris). As far as I know, it can run HP-UX
11.0, so that's good enough for me. If anyone could point me at any HP docs on
it, I would greatly appreciate it. In particular, I need to know the
following:
Does it have a built in network interface? If so, what kind (BNC, 10BaseT,
etc..)
I hear it uses HP Precision Bus... ?
What are my options for an additional network card? Part nos.? Where might I
find one?
What kind of SCSI interface is built into the machine? Is it differential?
What SCSI cards are available? Part nos.?
How many internal disk drive bays does it have? Do these require any special
rails or such?
What memory does this machine use? Part nos.?
And then a question on HP-UX:
I haven't done a whole lot with networking on HP-UX. Considering that it is
quite full featured from my experience, I'm guessing it can do IP Masquerading,
but I really don't know... Can it?
Thanks in advance!

Re: E class server info
Let me try to answer some of your questions:
The E25 supports the following HP-UX releases:
9.04, 10.0, 10.10, 10.20, 11.0 (32 Bit)
You can find an Ethernet LAN Interface on the CPU board, which has an AUI and
10BaseT connector. (The board does autosensing which port is in use)
You are right, the box uses HP-PB bus. The default version has a two slot
backplane, but it's possible to have a 4 Slot system.
The internal SCSI is a Single Ended SCSI. You can add a 28665A single ended
card. Or a 28696A FW SCSI interface. (The 28696A needs two slots!)
Need a LAN Interface? Choose one of these:
28640A 802.3
A3495A 802.3u 100BaseT
J2166A Token Ring
J2157A FDDI Adapter
Memory
8 MB Memory Board, SIMM A2578-69001
16 MB Memory Board, SIMM A2576-69001
32 MB Memory Board, SIMM A2575-69001
64 MB Memory Board, SIMM A3131-69001
