FAILING K360

I have an unsupported K360 failing at boot up.
I need to get into sp mode to disable the processor 0, I believe this is failing. How can I get to the menu to disable the processor. I do a cntrl+b and SP, SP is a no go. Running 11.0.

Re: FAILING K360

Try to remove this CPU from the system!

Well, I found this doc in TKB..
. a. Interrupt the boot process, and get to the PDC Main Menu by
answering N for no to the questions about booting from primary
and alternate boot paths.

b. Select the Configuration Menu by typing: CO

c. Disable processor 1 (the second processor) by typing:

PR 1 OFF

d. Enable it at a later stage by typing:

PR 1 ON

(Never turn processor 0 off)

2. To improve system performance, use the following information:

Kernel parameters: fs_async set to 1
nbuf
bufpage

Filesystem parameters: use 'tunefs' on an unmounted filesystem.

To tune the root filesystem, boot into maintenance mode by typing:

ISL> hpux -lm (;0)/hp-ux

No filesystem is put on a raw partition so only kernel parameters
will affect a raw partition.

Good luck,

Re: FAILING K360

Hi,

I don't think you can disable the processor on k360. Can't remember. Even if you could, you cannot disable processor 0. Replacement is the only choice.

Hope this helps.

Re: FAILING K360

If it's processor 0 then I think you have no luck...!

never get to the boot. Systems gets a FLT during io,memory and cpu scan.

Re: FAILING K360

Hi,

If you have at least two CPUs you could swap 0 and 1, and then disable 1.
