Re: Failed to initialize dump device dumpsys

Hi,

if the machine does not boot you have probably a bad disk

if the machines boots try
lvlnboot -v
check what is defined as dump and if there could be a problem.

Re: Failed to initialize dump device dumpsys

Hi,
It means that at boot time, the kernel wasn't able to configure the dump device (this dump device is used in case of a panic to save an image of the memory). Usually the dump device is the same than swap. You can configure it by using lvlnboot -d /dev/vg00/my_swap_device.
Take care also that on K4XX all SCSI card are not supporting dump device over 2Gb (it is an old limitation, but lvlnboot is returning an error if you are hitting this limit).

Cheers.
