Hello, I'm responsible for our patch strategy and am looking to update it since HP wants the customer to do PDC firmware patches on A,L and N-Class systems now. I have several questions concerning firmware patches:
1. If PDC firmware was updated with a patch and I update it again via a patch can I do a swremove of the new firmware patch to revert back to the previous firmware version if need be?
2. If PDC firmware originally was updated without using a patch and I apply a firmware patch to update it to a later version and need to back out what would be the procedure?
3.Do we update GSP firmware via a patch too?
Thank

Solution
Hi,
If you look at the patch discribtion of the latest a-class PDC patch. You can find most answers to your questions.
First links are the ones for Europe, second US
http://www4.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/patchDocDisplay.do?patchId=PHSS_30726
http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/patchDocDisplay.do?patchId=PHSS_30726
----
2. If the SUPPORT-TOOLS or Online Diagnostics software is installed, the existing firmware will be saved during the installation of the patch. In this case, if the patch is removed, the original firmware will be restored. If neither the SUPPORT-TOOLS nor Online Diagnostics software is installed, the existing firmware will not be saved during the installation of the patch. In this case, if the patch is removed the original firmware will not be restored and the firmware
installed by the patch will remain loaded after the patch is removed.
----
Yes and no, GSP firmware is downloaded as a patch but have to be installed via ftp or tape to the gsp.

Hope this helps,
Robert-Jan
