GSP Question

I am trying to understand all the commands in GSP that are related to shutdown/reboot/reset.
RS, PC and TC. What are the differences ?

Re: GSP Question

The help page in GSP should explain that pretty well for you. Once you're in GSP mode.
GSP> HE RS
will bring up the description of "rs" command and what it does. Do the same for the rest (pc and tc). If I'm not mistaken ..
rs = Reset. You can think of it as cycling the power on the cpu. I sometimes use this if my system hung and could not get into the console and have no choice but to hard reset (from remote).
tc = It behaves like rs but it dumps chassis code instead.
pc = Power control. This allows you to turn the CPU OFF, ON or power-cycle it. With this you don;t have to physically hit the power switch at the front panel to turn the cpu off, you can go to GSP and use the pc command to turn it off.

Re: GSP Question

I only have one remark: in case your system is hung and you want to find out why after the reset - use the tc. This writes an core dump which can be anaylzed by the HP support staff then. Otherwise your information will be lost.
