GSP RP3410 - No Access

I have a rp3410 ia64 server. Had a problem this morning with accessing the GSP remotely. From the console, went to look at the "Console Logs" and GSP Hung on me. Tried:

/root # stty +queryGSP < /dev/MPdiag1
GSP needs to be reset.

This process just hangs.

Tried resetting it using the reset button on the back of the managment processor card. Now I cant ping the IP address and the top light of the Lan Card (Self-Test) is yellow ?

Any Ideas ?

I think you reset the GSP complety and you need to configure the IP adres again

You can find the MAC adres on the label you can pull out next to the disks

the issue the arp command

arp -s ip-adress mac-adress

Re: GSP RP3410 - No Access

Hi Michael,

I'm not sure about your server. You wrote you own a "rp3410 ia64" server. This must be a mistake, since the letter "p" stands for PA-RISC technology. Either you have a RISC based rp3410 or something like a itanium based rx26x0 server.
Anyway, if you press the MP reset button too long, all setting are reset to the default (e.g. IP 127.0.0.1).
Now you need a serial console to get access to it. Using the serial console log on to the GSP and configure the network settings again.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: GSP RP3410 - No Access

Does CTRL-B on the console give some output?

Re: GSP RP3410 - No Access

Before I did the manual reset - i was able to get onto the serial console.

what happened was that I tried to go into "Console Logs" and it just hung, could not get anything back from the console. Then I reset it manually

Re: GSP RP3410 - No Access

How about the current status?

Any response on the console?
Does CTRL B work?
What's the status of the LED?
(management port)

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: GSP RP3410 - No Access

No reponse on the console since I tried to view the console logs,

CTRL-B does nothing

Yellow LED on the "Managment Processor Card LAN LEDs" - this is the only LEDs on the back. Which in the inst guide it means "Managment processor running selftest or error"

Re: GSP RP3410 - No Access

The selftest take only some moments, less then a minute. If the yellow LED is still on, there is a serious problem. You can try to reset again or remove the power plug for a while, but if this doesn't help, call HP.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
