GSP firmware

Hi,

I'm trying to install HP-UX 11i onto a RP5470 machine and it's asking me to upgrade my GSP firmware before going further.
Where can I get a bootable format GSP firmware?

Thanks again,
Remy

Re: GSP firmware

I've never installed GSP firmware, always leaving this baby to a HP CE. If you have a suuport contract get HP to do it.

Re: GSP firmware

On the other hand, if you really want it, you can get from here:

http://us-support.external.hp.com/common/bin/doc.pl
find individual patches and firmware
select firmware
From the search screen use the string 'gsp firmware'. Your version will appear from the selection.

Re: GSP firmware

I agree with Michael to leave the upgrade of GSP firmware on HP CE.
If you wan to know the latest firmware this may help you.

Re: GSP firmware

Hi,

GSP firmware does not come in bootable format. It has to be updated using telnet to GSP port. Detail procedure is given below. File name will be different from this because this Firmware is for L1000,L2000 and other boards. You can find exact version by serching through your server's product code.

Installation Instructions:
Please review all instructions and the "Hewlett-Packard
Support Tool License Terms" or your Hewlett-Packard support
terms and conditions for precautions, scope of license,

Re: GSP firmware

Hi Remy, can I throw in my little bit, you can actually do this while your server is up and running. I do it quite regularly and it is not difficult to do. Something you might need to look at is before you start you will need to configure your gsp lan address with the LC command. I load the files into root on the server itself, have two lan cables in both halves of the gsp pcb's into a hub and actually load it from the root directory.

the instructions in the previous post are from the installation instructions and it probably is a bit daunting the first time, but "go for it"
cheers

Re: GSP firmware

Another piece of information. There are 2 hardware revisions of GSP's, "A" revision and "B" revisions. You can not upgrade a "B" revision GSP while the OS is running unless you are already at B.02.20 or above, or you will crash the OS. The last thing that is done at the end of upgrading the firmware is the GSP is reset. A "B" revision GSP reset will crash the system.
