Re: Garbage charactors on MP console - Not getting login prompt
These are obviously the boot progress messages from rc(1m). It is trying to do cursor positioning for a hpterm and repeating "busy" & "wait".
So whatever step it is doing, it is hung.
You could try a control-| to see if it continues.
(But better to use the right emulator as Torsten said.)
> The system has been booted and it is up and running for quit some time.
This is strange that rc(1m) is still running but you can login. So Torsten's rc.log suggestion might be a help.

Re: Garbage charactors on MP console - Not getting login prompt
It seems pressing contorl-| does the trick. Now I got the login prompt. I just want to know what this control-| key combinations will do?
Best wishes,
Ganesh.

This sends SIGQUIT to rc(1m), see termio(7).
rc(1m) recognizes this and terminates the current step. You should take a look at rc.log to see what you skipped and why it hung?
