Re: Graphics card

Hi Manu

During BIOS read all machines display in ASCII , only when the X11 files are read, machines start displaying GUI. In dump terminal you never use Graphics card
never give up

Re: Graphics card

But we are connecting Windows Monitor having Graphics support so , it should support Ascii.

Re: Graphics card

Hi manu,

have you installed the new card in a new slot? Then you have to set the console path to the graphics card in the boot sequence.
Interrupt it and check path with 'pa con' or 'pa co'.
It shows the graphic path 'GRAPHICS(N)'.
N is the number of the card slot which is set.
It should be the same like the slot you installed your new card.

Re: Graphics card

Hi Manu,

Sorry, you can't use a graphics display for a boot-time console on a server. You have to use a terminal or emulator connected to the console port.
The problem is that the graph3 driver is not loaded until well into the boot sequence.
This is unique to server class (800) series systems. Workclass (700) series systems can of course use the graphics device as a boot-time console.

Jeff

Re: Graphics card

Jeff is correct. It will not work as a console, you have to use a terminal or the the LAN to the web console. There are also some issues with setmon on the L-class. If you need to use a monitor with 1024x768 resolution, I know a workaround that will allow you to set it so that it will be persistent after a reboot.
