Great old hardware at a good price
Hi,
I'm looking for a hp-9000 WKS (i know this is a server form, but...) that I can transfer two test oracle db (8gig ea.) from a production server (N-class 2xCPU 2Gig 12x9gig drives.)
My question is:
What WKS would be best for the job. I'm looking at a J5000 2xCPU with 2G and 4x9gig drives (originally I was looking at a K-580 but it's the same price and is physically lager & the J bench marks faster) The system s/b fast developers will be working on it. (as you can see I'm not too knowable of HP hardware)
Yes, I know the answer really "depends" on a lot of factors but what I'm really looking for is will a cxxxx or jxxxx server cut it. I have one test db on a D270 w/ 700K ram 6x4gig and its sluggish, but works.
I've looked at the docs.hp.com/hpux/hw area but just get more confused.
Any and all replys are appreciated!!!
Bert
p.s. I'll make sure to get the OS licensed (is 11.0 still licensable?)

Re: Great old hardware at a good price
I would suggest comparing the TPM of both servers before you make the decision. Typically a K580 ranges between 6500-25000 TPM depending on the # of CPUs. I am not sure what's the rating for a J5000. Check out these to get more info ..
