HP 9000 A500 beeping

Hello everybody!

We have a HP 9000 A500 with HP-UX 11.00 installed on it. A few days ago it began to beep in short intervals. I recognized that on the back panel the "B" led lights orange.
The operating system works well, there is just the beeping.

Does anyone know wht this beeping means an what to do to stop it??

check /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log for any errors, also check #dmesg o/p, what is product no for ur server, i am not aware of A500 server.

Is there in error in the GSP

You can see this with SL command from the GSP

Is there a grafics card installed in this A500 ? monitor and keyboard are connected ?

Hi!

I checked the syslog.log and found a bunch of NFS errors like the following:
Nov 14 23:16:19 wghp04 vmunix: NFS access failed for server fsu: RPC: Authentication error^M
Nov 14 23:24:05 wghp04 vmunix: NFS access failed for server fsu: RPC: Authentication error^M

But NFS works fine.

Could this be the cause? What can I do to avoid those error messages.

p.s.: The NFS Server fsu is a Windows machine.

Hi!

yes ther is a graphic card pugged. But no Monitor. The Server is in a Server rack and I'm working via Reflection X

I tried the xset -b off in all its variants with no sucess. Get still this beeping.

Any other ideas??

Did you check the operating environment where server is located like temperature etc??

Can you post following
From OS OE
#echo "selall;info;wait;infolog;view;done" | cstm > cstm.txt

Connect to GSP and pull out
GSP - > CL
GSP -> SL -> E

What is the status of LEDs on the front panel?

Are you really sure the beep tone comes from the server and not from another device like UPS?
I'm not aware of a speaker or anything like this inside an a-class.
