HP RP 7400 Attn LED blinking

Hi,

Would be grateful if anybody could help me out with this. The Attn LED on the HP Server rp 7400 is blinking with amber LED continuously. Please suggest how do i diagnose what is the problem and how do i stop the blinking LED?

go to the console and type ctrl+b
press return twice
This takes you to the GSP menu
to exit type co

Hi Ignatius,

An Attn LED light is the attention light.

It appears when every the server is rebooted or powered so that you check for any errors from the GSP menu. The light will be cleared after you checked the GSP menu entries.

To clear the attention light log on to the concole GSP memu.

Log on console
Ctrl-B
enter twice to login, provide password if you set it.

On the console when in the GSP and run sl.
sl

The following shows: Select Chassis Code Buffer to be displayed:
Incoming, Activity, Error, Current boot or Last boot? (I/A/E/C/L)

The 'E' ones would be sufficient to read. And also on the in the directory /var/tombstones there are files called ts98 ts99. View these files as well.

Hi Ignatius,

The amber attn LED indicates mainly a minor malfunction of the system. Check the chassis log for error using "sl" from the GSP console menu and select "e". Read the messages and carry out any requested action if there are any.

This process should put off the blinking amber attn LED.

The response given helped but someone set a password for login on to gsp console. Any option how i can reset it? If i reset it will anything happen to the server? i meant will the server perform the same way as it was working before i restart.

combinations to try:
admin/admin
hp/hp
/ (empty usr and pwd)

The reset button will clear all GSP entries and requires confirmation on console.

You may find another solution if you search for "GSP password reset" in the forums.
