The message is:
[Read only - use ^Ecf for console write access.]
This is normal. The GSP can have many connections using the console LAN port and serial console, but only one is allowed to write (type in commands). To type commands, enter the 3 characters: CTRL-e c f (no spaces). You'll see:
[bumped user - ]
You'll now be granted access to the console. However, if there is no HP-UX running, you will get no response.
> GSP HOST NAME : Uninitialized
Again, quite normal. You reset the GSP (Guardian Service Processor, a separate computer that manages the computer hardware) and the name assigned to the GSP needs to be set.
> I'm trying to go to console so I can load 11.11 but it will not go it just freezes.
There's no HP-UX installed yet so nothing shows up. You need to reset the system from the GSP> prompt with these commands:
rs
y
This will reset the CPU and start selftest. In a few seconds, the selftest steps will be shown. As a quick reference, you can type he (or help) at the GSP> prompt.
Once selftest is complete, you'll see a message about starting the boot handler and finally a message that says you have 10 seconds to interrupt the boot process. Press return (within 10 seconds) and you'll get a boot menu prompt. Now you can search for bootable devices:
search
A list will be shown. Put the CD/DVD into the reader and type the command: boot p# install (where # is the number for the CD/DVD reader). Answer N to the interact question and you'll be starting the installation process.
